College Infrastructure

Shri M. P. Shah Medical College and its affiliated G. G.G. hospital buildings are situated on a sprawling 63-acre campus, encompassing state-of-the-art hospital and academic buildings, student hostels, staff residential quarters, and expansive open grounds. The academic infrastructure primarily consists of two main college buildings: the original heritage structure and a modern extension building constructed in 2016 to meet the National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines for a 250-seat intake. The campus features two primary auditoriums; a 450-seat auditorium is located in the old building, while a larger, 650-seat auditorium occupies the seventh floor of the new extension. Additionally, the first, fourth, and sixth floors of the new college building each house two modern lecture halls, with each hall accommodating up to 304 students. Both buildings comprehensively host the Dean's Office, administrative branches, departmental offices, extensive libraries, fully equipped laboratories, and practical classrooms.

Recognizing that a comfortable and supportive living environment is crucial for rigorous medical training, the institution is currently undergoing a massive campus remodeling project to drastically elevate its residential infrastructure. While undergraduate (UG) students are presently accommodated in the existing older buildings, most of the aging UG boys' hostels are being systematically demolished to make way for modern architecture. Demonstrating a strong commitment to student safety and comfort, a newly constructed, dedicated UG girls' hostel featuring 350 well-ventilated rooms is now established, capable of securely accommodating 700 female students at a time. Concurrently, a state-of-the-art UG boys' hostel is under construction; upon completion, this massive 400-room facility will comfortably house up to 800 students.

The postgraduate (PG) and residential medical staff infrastructure is also experiencing rapid and visionary expansion. The campus currently features a modern PG hostel with 240 rooms, providing high-quality accommodation for 480 doctors. To further support advanced medical education and ensure doctors have the restful environment they need, two additional PG hostels have been approved. One of these is already under active construction and will offer 480 single-seater rooms, providing PG students with an ideal, private space for intensive study and recovery. The second approved project will soon add another 450 rooms to the campus. The college also continues to maintain dedicated accommodations for PG residents in houseman Blocks A and B. In the near future, this institution will boast world-class, state-of-the-art residential amenities designed to foster a safe, hygienic, and academically enriching atmosphere, ensuring the holistic well-being and development of our future doctors.

To ensure a comfortable living environment for its dedicated workforce, the college offers well-organized residential quarters for Class 1 through 4 employees. These staff quarters are classified into eight distinct alphabetical categories, ranging from Type A to H. Within the medical campus, there are 120 quarters reserved for Class 1 and 2 officers, alongside 90 quarters for Class 3 and 4 staff. An additional 212 quarters are situated outside the main campus area, specifically designated for Class 3 and 4 staff members.

The Medical college campus is fully equipped with essential daily amenities, including a 24x7 ATM and comprehensive laundry services in hostel. Furthermore to encourage a healthy and balanced life style, students and staff have access to a modern, fully equipped gymnasium and dedicated indoor sports complex, ensuring ample opportunities for fitness, recreation and stress relief.
